Sola Allyson Fires Back at Critics Over ‘Jesus’ Debate in Her Music

Gospel singer Sola Allyson has strongly responded to critics who bullied her for not explicitly mentioning the name of Jesus in her songs.

The backlash intensified after gospel icon Dr. Panam Percy Paul revealed he had rejected a £24 million offer in 1995 to keep the name of Jesus in his music. Following this revelation, some Christians accused Allyson of watering down her gospel message.

Allyson’s Heated Response

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the singer called out her critics for their harsh judgment and accused them of trying to impose their beliefs on her.

In a fiery post, she wrote:

“Why are you people this callous and unkind? If this is what you are with your own Jesus, I don’t want to be identified with you! Is it that you are desperately looking for an addition of light-souls in your dark space and you must bully them into joining you?”

She further slammed those attacking her, suggesting they were driven by low self-esteem and a need for validation:

“The Jesus I know would NEVER do this! Anyone who does anything like this only calls The Name but is not of The Name! I don’t want to be a part of you bullies and manipulators!”

Bullying Brought Her to Tears

In another post, Allyson admitted that the harsh words got to her, revealing that the bullying made her shed tears before she found the strength to respond.

“Yes, I am human. It gets to me sometimes. Like now. Because of my own personal struggles. But I can NEVER be manipulated into being a shallow entity. The One I know would NEVER manipulate anyone into following Him.”

She also made it clear that she would continue to follow her own spiritual path, regardless of external pressure:

“I do NOT seek to be with your kind of Jesus. Leave me alone. Face your own journey.”

This is not the first time Sola Allyson has faced criticism for her unique approach to gospel music. While some believe gospel artists should explicitly reference Jesus, others argue that spirituality can be conveyed beyond words.

Despite the backlash, Allyson remains unapologetic about her artistic choices, affirming that she will continue to express her faith in her own way.
