CMS school holds 166th anniversary

Nigeria’s oldest secondary school, C.M.S Grammar School, Lagos, is set to celebrate its 166th anniversary.
A statement by the secretary, Ohi Ojo, noted that the activities will begin on May 31 with a Novelty football match on the school premises.
Chairman of the event is an old boy, Akintola Enilolobo, a three-time Principals’ Cup champion and team captain.
Other activities are career talk on June 2 with old student, Charles Adeogun-Phillips, (SAN) as chairman.
The speech and prize giving day is billed for June 4 with another old boy Col (rtd) Ademola Onalaja as chair.
He said the grand finale is the foundation l aying ceremony of $2.5 million ICT Building and Founder’s Day Thanksgiving Service on June 6 at Babington Macaulay Chapel of the school.
Thereafter there will be a thanksgiving luncheon inside the Venerable B.A. Adelaja (School) Hall which has as its chairman another eminent old student Prof. John Okeniyi, Chief Medical Director, Obafemi Awolowo University,Teaching Hospital Complex.
Highlight of the luncheon Is the conferment of honorary membership of OGS on some notable personalities including the school Principal Revd. J.A Ogunyinka and Mrs Adejumoke Bako, wife of Rt. Revd. George Bako, OON, former Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN, and former Bishop of Lokoja Diocese as well as others.
The school has produced several outstanding Nigerians including Late Chief Ernest Shonekan GCFR, former Head of the Interim National Government, among others.
