Tinubu Departs Saint Lucia, Heads To Brazil For BRICS Summit

The President’s departure marks the second leg of his two-nation diplomatic tour aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s global partnerships.

He was seen off at Hewanorra International Airport by Saint Lucian Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre after completing a six-day official visit to the Caribbean nation, which began on June 28.

One of the major outcomes of Tinubu’s visit to Saint Lucia was the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries. This milestone was cemented with the signing of a Technical Manpower Assistance Agreement, which will see skilled Nigerian professionals deployed to support Saint Lucia’s development goals.

The Nigerian leader also held separate meetings with the island nation’s Governor General, Cyril Errol Charles, and Prime Minister Pierre, during which discussions centred on trade, investment, cultural exchange, and mutual cooperation.

In a symbolic move, Tinubu addressed a joint session of the Saint Lucian Senate and House of Assembly at Sandals Grande, where he reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deeper engagement with Caribbean nations.
