₦142bn on Bus Terminals Isn’t Governance – Peter Obi Criticizes FG

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has taken a swipe at the Federal Government over its reported plans to spend ₦142 billion on bus terminals, calling the move a misplacement of priorities.

Speaking during a press engagement, Obi described the decision as “wasteful spending,” arguing that such projects do not address the pressing needs of Nigerians, especially during an economic crisis. According to him, governance should focus on impactful investments that directly improve the lives of citizens, such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure for production.

“Spending ₦142 billion on bus terminals is not governance; it’s extravagance,” Obi stated. “At a time when millions of Nigerians are struggling to afford basic necessities, the government should prioritize initiatives that create jobs, reduce poverty, and grow the economy—not cosmetic projects.”
