Drama as May Edochie’s law firm ends legal representation

Emeka Ugwuonye, the lawyer representing Nollywood actress, May Edochie, has announced end of legal representation.

Notably, Emeka Ugwuonye served as counsel for May Edochie in her divorce case against Yul Edochie, which commenced in 2023.

This was disclosed in an official statement released on the DPA Family Law Firm’s Facebook page.

The law firm, Due Process Advocates (DPA), cited relentless harassment and cyberbullying from May’s fans, known as “May Nation,” as the reason for their withdrawal.

The firm’s statement expressed that the hostile environment created May’s supporters made it impossible for them to continue effective representation.

In addition, DPA pledged to cooperate with May’s new legal team and facilitate a smooth transition.

DPA’s services to Queen May have come to an end. The hostile environment fostered by certain individuals within the “May Nation” group has made it untenable for us to continue effective representation.

Ethically, pursuing action against those who bullied Queen May becomes profoundly difficult when her own supporters exhibit comparable, if not greater, hostility. Consequently, we had no choice but to withdraw.

To be unequivocal: the persistent bullying and trolling originating from Queen May’s presumed supporters present a severe operational and ethical challenge for DPA and our staff.

Queen May was a victim of marital abuse and betrayal. She deserves justice and societal protection. DPA unequivocally condemns the actions of Yul and Judy that led to the conflict. DPA opposes forced polygamy, grounded in our belief in equal rights for men and women.

Crucially, protecting the best interests of our client remains our obligation, even during and after withdrawal.

Moving forward, DPA will pursue recourse against the apparent leader of “May Nation,” operating under the pseudonym “Judy Obasiyul Autisn’.
